In 2004, the Bruce Lee Foundation decided to use the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do (振藩截拳道) to refer to the martial arts system that Lee founded; “Jun Fan” was Lee’s Chinese given name.  At EAMA students are taught the original Jun Fan Gung Fu curriculum taught to Sifu Dan Inosanto by Sigung Bruce and later adapted by Sifu Dan after Sigung’s death.

Jun Fan JKD is sometimes known as the grandfather of MMA.  Sigung Bruce incorporated techniques from many different disciplines of martial arts believing that no one style had all the answers.  He broke the traditional boundaries of older martial arts by training any techniques he thought would improve his fighting skill, and training anyone willing to learn.  Jun Fan JKD can be broken down into four ranges of attack – kicking, punching, trapping, and grappling.  Beginners focus on the kicking and punching range, and move on to trapping and grappling as they become more advance.

Jun Fan JKD is meant to be fluid and adaptive.  It can be used in self defense or in the ring.  Classes are an hour long and consist of warm ups, pad work, bag work, partner drills, and sparring.

I have trained at Elite Academy of Martial Arts for a year and a half now, and attend the Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do classes. You are encouraged to cross train with unlimited access to each of the different martial arts. Sifu Kevin Le is extremely knowledgeable, patient, genuine, has a great attitude, and is helpful. He expects you to hold yourself accountable and put in the work to achieve your full potential, but is also keenly aware of where each student is individually. You are only expected to work towards doing better than you did the day before, and there is no competition between the different people that practice there. The atmosphere is one of mutual respect, and it’s a comfortable learning environment. There is a core curriculum for advancement, however, we also learn moves and practice situations for real world application beyond the curriculum. I really enjoy training under Sifu Kevin and with everyone that attends. Now that I’ve hit 30 I find that it takes a lot more stretching time than when I was younger so I arrive early during the kid classes to stretch. I’m consistently impressed with the values and patience that Sifu imparts to those kids beyond self defense, and I’ve seen them grow and progress over time into even better people. It’s NOT a martial arts factory with huge classes just pumping out belts. Sifu only accepts students who are respectful and will contribute towards a healthy and fun learning environment. I highly recommend this academy.

I have been to about 5 different martial arts schools throughout my life, and Elite Academy of Martial Arts is definitely the best. Enough different styles are offered that you would have to go to at least 3 other normal schools to get the same type of training. Even given that you can find the skills elsewhere, other schools do not go as in depth. After nearly every maneuver taught Sifu Kevin explains exactly why it is used, and exactly what scenario to use it in. He even explains that some amazing ring moves won’t work in bars because of chairs and stools taking up space. This school won’t just teach you skills, it will teach you exactly when and where to apply them, then have you spar frequently enough that you know you can. Finding all of these aspects is extremely rare, and I have only found it here. The school has a five star rating for a reason.
