Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, is a highly effective striking and clinching martial art. Often referred to as the “science of eight limbs,” it teaches practitioners how to use punches, kicks, knees, and elbows with both sides of the body. Many renowned MMA champions, such as Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, and Jose Aldo, have adopted Muay Thai as their primary striking discipline.

At Elite Academy of Martial Arts (EAMA), our Muay Thai program is not a fitness kickboxing class. While you will certainly get a workout, it is achieved through hitting pads and heavy bags with proper form and technique. You will be trained as a true Thai Boxer, learning the same tactics, history, and traditions that fighters have used for decades.

Our hour-long classes consist of warm-ups, bag work, pad work, partner drills, and sparring. We teach techniques applicable both in and out of the ring, including Muay Boran, the traditional precursor to modern Muay Thai. Students interested in testing their skills are also encouraged to compete in amateur bouts.

Thai Boxing Association

The Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A. (TBA-USA), under which Kun Kru Kevin is an instructor, is the oldest and largest Muay Thai organization in the United States. It was founded in 1968 by Ajarn Surachai “Chai” Sirisute. (Ajarn is Thai for “head instructor.”) Ajarn Chai is the first Thai boxing instructor to teach Americans his art, and he has worked tirelessly for 40 years to that end. We are grateful to Ajarn Chai for his gift of the knowledge of Muay Thai.

The TBA-USA now has representation in almost every state in the USA and has expanded to establish affiliate organizations in more than 15 countries around the world.

This is an excellent place to study martial arts. It offers an intimate setting with a great deal of personal instruction. The standards demanded are high, but the results match. Go to the website, read the information there, then contact Sifu to observe a class. You’ll see what I mean.

Sifu Kevin has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I started training in Muay Thai with him about 3 months ago, and since starting I’ve grown even more fond of martial arts. I eventually plan on studying Wing Chun at Elite Academy as well. The environment is welcoming and all of the students were very helpful in my adjustment as I learned the basics. He’s firm enough in his teaching techniques to push you beyond your comfort zone, without making it feel like he’s trying to break you as some dojo’s do. What I appreciate most is that his teaching goes beyond the physical, technical element of your particular practice and into the deeper, more humbling elements of what martial arts should represent. I signed up for a year after I watched two of his classes in person, and I’m very satisfied with my progress, thanks to his instruction. I highly recommend this school for anyone looking to receive thorough Martial Arts teaching in an inviting and comfortable space.
